Luther Strange, State Attorney General, visited Haleyville Wednesday to speak to a group of law enforcement officials and retail business owners and employees at the Retail Crime Investigations and Partnerships Seminar. The class was held at the Armed Forces Reserve Training Center on Newburg Road. He spoke to the group about scams that have been seen in the state recently, ways to avoid those scams, and how to report them when needed. The AG also encouraged the business owners to work closely with law enforcement officials to continue to close the communications gap between the two groups in order to more efficiently work toward the elimination of retail crimes.

Throughout the day, there were several speakers who discussed retail crime and strategies to decrease the occurrences. Some of those included Sheriff Rick Harris and a representative from the Secret Service. The seminar was presented by the Winston County Sheriff's Department, Office of the District Attorney, Regional Organized Crime Information Center, the Haleyville Area Chamber of Commerce, Kroger, and Belk.
