The Haleyville City Council met Monday morning. Drew Thrasher and Jonathan Bennett were unable to attend, but all other members were present. The minutes from the previous meeting were approved. Next, the council approved the purchase of a Kubota front end loader for Park and Recreation. It will cost $2,664 and will be taken from the Special Events fund. Then, the council approved the reappointment of Joyce Carruth, Paul Williams, and Harold Coan to the Tree Commission for a three year term. Finally, the council discussed options for a security system for the 21st Street Gym. Originally, the council planned to install a new system. However, after discussing the matter the council wants to look into adding the gym to a current security network. The council will have quotes to discuss the matter at the next meeting. The next meeting will be held March 18 at 11:00 a.m.
