The Haleyville city council held their first meeting of the new year Monday morning with all members present except Jonathan Bennett and Royce Benefield.
The council approved the minutes of the last council meeting on 12/17/12 then approved the purchase of two new police cars for a total of $44,975.48 from the low bidder, John Carpenter Ford in Moulton.
Other items approved included the transfer of an alcohol license for a location change for Wal-Mart; a new street light to be installed at the intersection of Highway 13N/9th Ave at 26th Street; remodeling the concession stand at the Girls softball field for $4,000; and rescheduling of the January 21 meeting to Tuesday, January 22 because of Martin Luther King Day on Monday.
