Spanks has audited the city&#8217;s finances for many years and spoke highly of the city employees who were always the most professional and prepared and praised the city as a whole. He stated the city is in great financial shape.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Two former police vehicles, a 2003 and a 2005 Ford Crown Victorias were declared as &#8220;surplus&#8221; and can be sold to the highest bidder.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The council failed to hire an Acting City Clerk to replace Debra Hood who will be retiring this year. Richard Bittinger made a motion to hire Emily Farris but failed to get a majority vote from the Council. Royce Benefield made a motion to hire Christy Harbin, which also failed to get a majority vote. With no other motions, no one was hired, which necessitated the postponement of two other items on the agenda.\u00a0The appointment of an acting revenue\/clerk accounts payable clerk and advertising for an assistant account payable clerk were effectively tabled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Council did approve the advertising for a full-time policeman and part-time dispatcher.
