The system is called AERN, or the Alabama Entrepreneurial Research Network. Below is information of what is provided by AERN.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Alabama Entrepreneurial Research Network (AERN) is a program to enhance business development<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">throughout rural Alabama. AERN is directed through The University of Alabama\u2019s Culverhouse College of Commerce<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">in partnership with agencies in rural counties. The program has three components:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Toolkit of Resources. <\/span>One is to provide computers and peripheral equipment, business software, and other<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">business research resources to chambers of commerce, industrial development agencies, or other nonprofit organizations whose mission includes business development in very rural, low-income portions of Alabama.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Each AERN Center has these resources for use by local entrepreneurs:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 A computer, printer, and specialized business planning software<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 A set of specialized business reference books<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Someone who will help you<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Partner organizations make the resources available to the public to encourage potential entrepreneurs to start a<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">business, to expand an existing business, or for other economic development work in the target areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Training. <\/span>The second component is a strong training emphasis. The staffs of the partner agencies receive<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">training in how to use the materials and how to help their local constituencies. And, periodically the public is<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">offered seminars and workshops.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Learn the steps to take when starting your own business<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Find industry and economic proles of your county<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Use the Internet effectively in conducting and researching business<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Website. <\/span>The third component is the AERN website. Many online resources are easily accessible there, and the<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">site is designed for ease of use by the lay public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">From the website you can:<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Submit questions to the librarians at the Angelo Bruno Business Library at The University of Alabama<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Locate pointers to useful business information on the Internet<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u2022 Learn more about who we are, what services we offer, and how we can help you.
