\"\"The Haleyville City Council met Monday, May 2nd with all members present.\u00a0 <\/span>The council voted on four items that were on the regular agenda.\u00a0 <\/span>The council voted to accept a proposal from Great Southern Recreation for the installation of the artificial turf at the Heart of Haleyville Park being built downtown. Council member Drew Thrasher voted against the resolution, with all other members voting yes.\u00a0 With the resolution\u2019s approval, $10,185.00 will be allocated from Haleyville\u2019s General Fund for the project.\u00a0 Additional funding will be $15,000.00 from Haleyville\u2019s 9-1-1 Commission, and\u00a0 $10,000.00 from the Haleyville Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

The council also voted to approve a proposal for landscaping at the Heart of Haleyville Park.\u00a0 <\/span>Bradley Tucker of Greener Expectations proposed to install mulch and plant 35 holly bushes at the park for a total cost of $3,817.00 for the project.\u00a0 <\/span>In addition, the city agreed to provide one load of topsoil to assist with the work.<\/p>\n

The council unanimously voted to allow bids to be accepted for resurfacing and widening County Road 90 for a short distance at the Botush Industrial Park.\u00a0 <\/span>This project will provide better access for trucks and other traffic at Bassett Furniture Industries, a major employer in the area.\u00a0 <\/span>The Alabama Department of Transportation must first issue its approval for accepting bids, then project engineers The Cassidy Company, Inc. will begin advertising for bids within 30 days.\u00a0 <\/span>Once those bids are received, they will go before the council for review.<\/p>\n

The final item on the agenda was to approve a sealed bid from C&C Lawn Care for maintenance work at Hill Crest Cemetery.\u00a0 <\/span>C&C will perform grass cutting and debris removal on a biweekly basis for the sum of $650 per bi-weekly maintenance session.\u00a0 <\/span>The only other bid received for the job was from Adam Carter, who bid $700 biweekly or $500 weekly.<\/p>\n
