\"\"Caleb Scott Farley Suspect<\/p>\n

The 25th District Attorney\u2019s Criminal Investigation Division announces the arrest of a suspect in the death investigation of David Brian Hayes. Hayes\u2019 body was discovered by firefighters responding to a house fire call at 5954 Helicon Road, Arley, Alabama in the morning hours of Saturday, December 19, 2020.<\/p>\n

Caleb Scott Farley, 20 years old, of 2001 County Road 22, Arley, Alabama has been arrested and charged with the Murder of David Brian Hayes and Arson 1st of the residence at 5954 Helicon Road.<\/p>\n

\u201cI commend the investigators for their tireless work put into this case to bring the suspect to answer to the allegations. All the men and women involved in this investigation put in an extraordinary amount of time and effort over the holiday period to make the arrest and bring the suspect to the judicial system to answer for the alleged actions\u201d said District Attorney Scott Slatton. \u201cI want to send a special thanks to the State Fire Marshal\u2019s Office, Agents from the Marion County Sheriff\u2019s Department, Winfield Police Department, 24th District Attorney\u2019s Criminal Investigation Division and Fayette County Sheriff\u2019s Department who sent manpower to assist in this investigation. Without their help we could very well still be looking at an unsolved crime,\u201d Slatton continued.<\/p>\n

The investigation was conducted by the 25th District Attorney\u2019s Criminal Investigation Division, the State Fire Marshal\u2019s Office and the Winston County Sheriff\u2019s Office. Agents with<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

the Region E Task Force assisted with the investigation. Bond was set at a total of $250,000 by Judge Daryl Burt. Due to the nature of the case the District Attorney\u2019s Office requested the bond be set higher due to the allegations made and that request was granted by the Judge. Farley is being held in the Winston County Jail.<\/p>\n

The public is reminded that a complaint contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt.
