The Haleyville City Council met Monday, not in person, but by video phones and computers. This is the second time in the history of the Haleyville City Council\u00a0the meeting was done\u00a0with the Mayor and\u00a0Councilmen all at different locations. The first of these unique meetings was two weeks ago all in an effort to prevent the spread of the Covid-19 virus. Software called Zoom was utilized successfully to connect Mayor Sunseri, all the Councilmen, City attorney\u00a0Jeff Mobley and the media.<\/p>\n
The first item on the agenda was the approval of the March general operation bills in the amount of $402,211.52. \u00a0The Council also approved hazard duty pay to all city employees. Full-time employees will receive an extra $150\/mo and part-time employees, including volunteer firemen, will receive an extra $75\/mo during the Covid-19 active threat. This was recommended by Mayor Sunseri who likened this hazardous duty pay to the extra pay received by military personnel when they are in a war zone or working in a dangerous\u00a0and hazardous situation.<\/p>\n
Approval was made for a 75\/25 matching grant for the purchase of food for the local food banks run by the churches.<\/p>\n
The next scheduled Council meeting will be on Monday, May 4, 5:30 p.m. It may or may not be at City Hall, or by phone as the last two meetings have been.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
