{"id":16078,"date":"2019-10-29T09:56:16","date_gmt":"2019-10-29T14:56:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hbtv.us\/News-for-Haleyville\/?p=16078"},"modified":"2019-10-29T10:01:47","modified_gmt":"2019-10-29T15:01:47","slug":"haleyville-native-new-owner-of-nichols-funeral-homes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hbtv.us\/News-for-Haleyville\/haleyville-native-new-owner-of-nichols-funeral-homes\/","title":{"rendered":"Haleyville Native New Owner of Nichols Funeral Homes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-16079 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/hbtv.us\/News-for-Haleyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/DON-258x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"518\" height=\"603\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hbtv.us\/News-for-Haleyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/DON-258x300.jpg 258w, https:\/\/hbtv.us\/News-for-Haleyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/DON-768x893.jpg 768w, https:\/\/hbtv.us\/News-for-Haleyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/DON-640x744.jpg 640w, https:\/\/hbtv.us\/News-for-Haleyville\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/DON.jpg 797w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 518px) 100vw, 518px\" \/><span class=\"s1\">Don Dimond, standing, with Joseph Martin, recently marked the transfer of ownership of \u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Dimond &amp; Sons, Inc., who have operated Nichols Funeral Homes for almost twenty years, to \u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Mr. Martin, a Haleyville native.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Joseph, a 2008 graduate of Haleyville High School, attended and<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0graduated from Jefferson State Community College\u2019s Mortuary Science program in 2013, and obtained all<\/span><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0of the licenses necessary to practice as a Funeral Director and Embalmer in Alabama.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The sale included The Tombstone Company and Hillcrest Crematory which is the only crematory\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">actually located in and serving the families of Winston County.\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Although Joseph started his career with Nichols he has had the opportunity to work for and learn from\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">several well-known funeral homes over the last ten years.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Dimond spoke of this as\u00a0a <\/span><span class=\"s1\">continuation of the history of local ownership of Nichols going back to 1938 and said, \u201cWinston <\/span><span class=\"s1\">County is fortunate to have a local person trained and ready to take over to continue this family <\/span><span class=\"s1\">business when many funeral homes end up-sold to large uncaring corporations.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Joseph brings <\/span><span class=\"s1\">youth, vitality and a commitment to deliver exactly what individual families want.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>At Nichols,\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">the difference IS the service.\u201d<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Joseph is married to the former Jordan Smith of Hackleburg. They have a daughter\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Elizabeth, known as \u201cEllie\u201d and reside in Haleyville.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"s1\">Don and the rest of the longtime staff, including Gary Wakefield,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>will be staying on to assist in the <\/span><span class=\"s1\">operation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0Nichols&#8217;s posting of death notices from all three funeral homes can be found here on hbtv.us.
