HAMILTON-On March 15, 2018, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers with the Marion County Sheriff\u2019s Office and the Hamilton Police Department attempted to serve an involuntary commitment order at a residence located in the 200 block of Robin Road, Hamilton, Alabama. At some point after the officers arrived at the residence, the subject they were attempting to locate approached them while armed with a knife. \u00a0A brief altercation occurred and one of the deputies discharged his firearm causing nonfatal injuries to the subject, who was transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton by ambulance. \u00a0Physicians at the North Mississippi Medical Center-Hamilton determined he needed more advanced medical care and had the subject airlifted to the North Mississippi Medical Center-Tupelo. \u00a0The subject’s condition is not known at this time. \u00a0At the request of the Marion County Sheriff\u2019s Office, the State Bureau of Investigation responded to the residence and their Agents are currently investigating the incident. \u00a0As the incident is currently under investigation, no other information is available at this time.<\/p>\n
