The 1993 disappearance of 10-year old Andrea Parsons of Port Salerno, Fla., was solved last week with a man living in Haleyville being charged with her kidnapping and murder. Chester Duane Price, 42, recently of Haleyville, has been arrested. A press release from the Martin County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office stated, "The investigation has concluded that Price abducted and killed Andrea Gail Parsons."

“For over 19 years the Martin County Sheriff’s Office has conducted an intense investigation into Andrea’s disappearance.  The resolve to find Andrea and get answers surrounding the circumstances of her disappearance has never wavered as detectives and others assigned have dedicated their careers to piecing this puzzle together," Martin County (Fla.) Sheriff Robert L. Crowder said.

Detectives from Martin County, assigned to the cold case in 2011, first contacted Haleyville Police in May of 2012, according to sources familiar with the investigation. HPD located Price, 42, living in a residence on Alabama 195. Price had been living in Haleyville for around a year. Detectives from Florida came to Haleyville to interview him.

This Summer detectives again came to Haleyville and Price voluntarily returned with them to Florida for more interviews. After the interviews he returned to Haleyville.

Last Tuesday, Price returned again to Florida with detectives to testify before the grand jury. That grand jury indicted him for first degree murder and kidnapping of a child under 13. He was arrested and booked Thursday afternoon. Price is being held without bail at the Martin County (Fla.) Jail.
