Sink Hole Closes Part of 26th Street

A three foot sink hole on 26th Street Tuesday night literally caught one unsuspecting truck driver as he waited for the light at the intersection of 9th Avenue and Highway 13 north. With the vehicle safely removed, a portion of the street was closed until Wednesday morning. City employees began early looking for the cause of the problem. A track hoe was brought in to excavate a large area surrounding the sink hole. A portion of 26th Street will be closed while repairs are being made. This same area has had problems in the past with a leaking gas line.
