The Haleyville City Council met Monday with Jonathan Bennett absent. A very short meeting with only two items on the agenda. After approving the minutes from the last council meeting, following a short discussion, the council voted to declare a house and property which belongs to the city as surplus. It was decided to have the property appraised and then place it on the market for sale. The house at 1239 19th Street was purchased by the city in the 90's for the Head Start Program. Head Start moved to the old elementary school building on 14th Avenue many years ago and it was later rented to RPS ambulance service which also later moved. The building has been empty for some time.

The next meeting of the Haleyville City council will be Monday, June 20 at city hall.
