Haleyville City Council

The Haleyville City Council met Monday afternoon with Jonathan Bennet and Royce Benefield absent. The council voted to buy a flag pole for the new city hall for $750. In lieu of a Christmas bonus for city employees, the council approved a one time pay adjustment which will be effective in December.

The council discussed then approved the proposed Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for the Halevyille Police Department with changes.

Project engineer, Calvin Cassady gave an update of the progress of the new sports complex. He stated the ball field lighting was approximately 90% complete and the construction on the concession stand was 50% complete. A bid of $21,500 from TREES-R-US for sod, grass seed and fertilizer for nine different areas was approved. The areas were construction is still underway will be the last to receive the surface treatment. 

Mayor Sunseri announced two hires for the city. Matthew Kelley was hired as a seasonal employee for the Park and Recreation Department, and Tommy Lewis, who recently retired as a full-time fireman, was hired as a relief fireman. 

The next scheduled meeting of the Haleyville City Council will be Monday, April 18, 5:30 p.m. at the city hall.
