Havala Drive-In Becomes A Field of Dreams

"Build it and they will come" is a line from the movie Field of Dreams about a man who turned a corn field into a baseball field. Don Lowman decided to build a baseball practice field on the old Havala Drive-In Movie property which he owns located next to his home on Highway 195. In doing so, the Angels, a 9 - 10 year old Haleyville Dixie Youth baseball team, now have a place to practice.  Don's son is a member of the Angels.

Tons of memories have been made on that same field in parked cars as movies were played on the big screen. The screen has fallen into disrepair. The poles holding speakers and the projection building are all gone and in their place a field of dreams for the local Dixie Youth Angels.
