Haleyville City Council Meeting

The Haleyville City Council met Monday with all members present except Drew Thrasher. 

The November general operation bills were approved in the amount of $428,066.15. Resolution 2015-45 was approved awarding contracts to the low bidder, Trees-R-Us, for crushed stone and Rip Rap for the south parking lot and drainage ditches at the new Haleyville Sports Complex.  Total cost for a maximum 3,000 tons of 1-1/2 inch crusher run is not to exceed $43,050.00 and 700 tons of Class 2 Rip Rap is not to exceed $10,990.00. (Resolution 2015-45)

the Council approved the Northwest Alabama Council of Local governments (NACOG) to provide administration services for the Cripple Creek Subdivision Grant for a fee of $35,947/00. (Resolution 2015-46)

Glass Heating and Air was the low bidder at $15,016.00 for a heating and cooling unit for the pool side of the Neighborhood Facilities Building. (Resolution 2015-47

A phone system will be installed at the new city hall by the low bidder, Certified Alarm for $14,395.49. (Resolution 2015-48)

The Haleyville Alcohol Ordinance was modified to allow Haleyville businesses who sell alcohol for on-premise consumption to operate until 2 a.m. on New Year's Day, except when New Year falls on Sunday. This year and next, it will be allowed. 

A donation of $1,500 was approved for the American Red Cross.

Additional counter space for the new city hall was approved in the amount of $2,956.00.

Jen-Eric Computers was approved to install video security cameras at the new city hall. 

The next scheduled meeting of the Haleyville City Council will be Monday, January 4, 5:30 p.m.

RESOLUTION #2015-45

WHEREAS, the City of Haleyville is currently working on the Haleyville Sports Complex, AND 

WHEREAS, bids were solicited from trucking companies for the hauling of crushed stone and rip rap from the local limestone quarry.  These materials will be purchased by the City of Haleyville for the south parking lot and drainage ditches at the Haleyville Sports Complex.  Bids were accepted and opened at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Haleyville City Hall.  The following is a summary of the bids received:

WHEREAS, Trees R Us submitted the lowest responsive bid to haul the 1-1/2 Inch Crusher Run with their bid in the amount of $14.35/ton.  Trees R Us also submitted the lowest responsive bid to haul the Class 2 Rip Rap in the amount of $15.70/ton.

WHEREAS, Acting Project Engineer, Cavlin Cassady, P.E., has reviewed the bids received and recommends that the City of Haleyville award this project to Trees R Us for the bid amounts stated above.

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Haleyville, that Mayor Ken Sunseri is hereby authorized to enter into an agreement with Trees R Us to haul a maximum of 3,000 tons of 1-1/2 Inch Crusher Run at a cost not to exceed $43,050.00 and a maximum of 700 tons of Class 2 Rip Rap at a cost not to exceed $10,990.00 from the local limestone quarry to the Haleyville Sports Complex site located at 3103 9th Avenue, Haleyville, Alabama 35565.  At the direction of the Acting City Engineer, Calvin Cassady, P.E., these materials will be placed and spread by City of Haleyville forces.

RESOLUTION #2015-46 

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE NORTHWEST ALABAMA COUNCIL OF LOCAL GOVERNMENTS TO ADMINISTER PROJECT LR-CP-PF-15-026

WHEREAS, the City of Haleyville has received a CDBG grant for water, sewer and street improvements within Haleyville,

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Haleyville does hereby authorize the Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments to provide administration services for the project as provided for under ADECA Policy Letter 1 (Revision 9).

BE IT RESOLVED that the City of Haleyville authorizes its Mayor to enter into a contract with the Northwest Alabama Council of Local Governments to provide said services for a fee not to exceed $35,947.00


RESOLUTION #2015-47

WHEREAS, the City Council of Haleyville, Alabama, did hereby advertise for bids for a new heating and cooling unit for the Neighborhood Facilities Building;

WHEREAS, on December 18, 2015 at 1:00 P.M., three (3) sealed bids were received and opened in the courtroom at City Hall as follows:

  1.        Glass Heating and Air $15,016.00  (Goodman)
  2.        Glass Heating and Air $17,370.00  (Mammoth)

  

  Winston Sheet Metal $17,000.00  (Carrier)

  JC Hamm $19,811.00  (York)

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Haleyville, Alabama that Mayor Ken Sunseri is hereby authorized to purchase a heating and cooling unity from Glass Heating and Air, the lowest bidder that meets all specifications and requirements in the amount of $15,016.00

RESOLUTION #2015-48

WHEREAS, the City Council of Haleyville, Alabama, did hereby advertise for bids for a new phone system for the new City Hall located at 911 21st Street; 

WHEREAS, on December 18, 2015 at 1:30 P.M., three (3) sealed bids were received and opened in the courtroom at City Hall as follows:

Certified Alarm         $14,395.49

Jen-Eric Computers  $17,896.00

CenturyLink             $21,529.03

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City Council of Haleyville, Alabama that Mayor Ken Sunseri is hereby authorized to purchase a new phone system for the new City Hall located at 911 21st Street, from Certified Alarm, the lowest responsible bidder that meets all specifications and requirements in the amount of $14,395.49.
