In the overnight hours of Sunday, November 30, 2014, someone broke into a warehouse in the Haleyville North Industrial Park. The criminal stole a 1989 ski boat, a 2006 white Chevrolet 3500, copper wiring, and some miscellaneous furniture. The Haleyville Police Department has been investigating the theft since that time.

In the early morning hours Sunday, December 7, 2014, the Haleyville Police Department received word from the Winston County Sheriff’s Department that the boat had been found on County Road 357, just off State Highway 278 in the Natural Bridge Community. It was completed destroyed by fire.

Around noon Sunday, hunters reported to Bear Creek Police Chief Shane Whitten that they had found a vehicle that had also been destroyed by fire on some hunting land on Trinity Church Road, just off of Cherry Hill Road outside Haleyville. Both the Haleyville and Bear Creek Police Departments responded to that scene and confirmed the vehicle was the stolen Chevy 3500.  The stolen furniture has not been recovered at this time.

Investigators with the Haleyville Police Department are working diligently to solve this case.  If you have any information that could be helpful in this investigation, please contact Lieutenant Tim Steien at that Haleyville Police Department by calling (205)486-5201.
