The Draining of Lake Hardee

John Cooper, Director of the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) along with ALDOT Division Engineer James Brown and State Senator Paul Bussman visited Haleyville recently to announce the approval of $1.5 million for the removal and replacement of storm water culverts on Highway 13 north at 8th Avenue.  This has been a problem flood area for many years. 

Cooper stated this was an unusual amount, but was required for this particular project to make the road safe during periods of high rain fall.  The work will begin this fall.
