The Haleyville Lions opened their season last week at the Haleyville Thanksgiving Shootout. The varsity boys, varsity girls, 9th grade boys, and JV girls all participated in this tournament, and fourteen different schools were represented throughout the week. The Varsity Lions lost to Parrish in the opening game Tuesday but then defeated Falkville and Holy Spirit Wednesday and Friday. This gave the Lions a third place finish in the tourney. The Varsity Lady Lions opened the tournament with a win against Curry Tuesday but suffered losses to Falkville, Sulligent, and Carbon Hill Wednesday and Friday. The Lady Lions finished 5th in the tournament. Both the 9th grade boys and the JV girls won first place in their tournaments.
