The Haleyville Police Department responded to the scene of a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Alabama Avenue and 7th Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Thursday evening. When officers arrived on the scene, the driver of the Toyota Camry fled on foot. Officers searched the area for the suspect but were unable to locate him at that time.

Moments later, a vacant home near the scene of the accident went up in flames. The home has been vacant for more than ten years, and no one was seen at the home.  Officials on the scene are unsure if the two incidents are related at this time. The Haleyville and Delmar Fire Departments extinguished the fire, and both incidents are under investigation.
