Tommy Dooley, a City of Haleyvllle employee, was transported by ambulance to Lakeland Community Hospital Emergency Room Thursday morning following a single vehicle accident at 8:50 on Newburg Road, north of Haleyville.  Dooley was checked and and later released from the LCH ER.

Dooley was driving a city dump truck hauling gravel from Russellville to a road near the Haleyville airport where the city is upgrading a new road to the Armed Forces Reserve Training Center. He was south bound in the curve just north of the bridge over the back water of Bear Creek when he met a north bound county truck. The right wheels of the dump truck left the pavement and the truck traveled some distance before Dooley took evasive action to avoid hitting a power pole seen in the photo above on the left. The truck overturned spilling the gravel onto Newburg and down one embankment. Newburg was blocked for some time while the truck was uprighted and removed.
