Bittinger Bennett Thrasher and Benefield elected without opposition
Councilmembers Richard "Bicycle" Bittinger, Jonathan Bennett, Drew Thrasher and Royce Benefield were certified as elected without opposition at Monday's City Council meeting.

The Council rejected the bids for the sinkhole project on 26th Street in front of The Cave. The two bids received for the repair and drainage project were both over budget. One was $87,843.14 and the other was $99,908.00. The Acting City Engineer will now reduce the scope of work, prepare new bid documents and re-bid the project.

A line of credit, not to exceed $290,500.00, with Traders & Farmers Bank was approved for renewal. The current balance on that account is $139,918.00

The Council gave the go-ahead for the City, the Water Board and the Town of Bear Creek, if approved, to split three-ways the cost of an identification card system. The City's share would be $990.

In other action, the Council approved election officials for the upcoming August 28 election. [CLICK HERE FOR LIST OF OFFICIALS]. It also approved the certificates of election for Royce Benefield, Drew Thrasher, Jonathan Bennett and "Bicycle" Bittnger. All four were unopposed for their respective city council seats.

Bids for surplus city property may now also be made by sealed bid. Previously, bids were only be received online at GoDeals.com.

The next meeting of the Council is Monday, August 20, 11 AM, at City Hall.
