Arrival
Deputy District Attorney Neal Cook and DA's Investigator Tommy Moore arriving at the Anders Body Shop, scene of the shooting.

A family dispute turned deadly when an Addison man shot his brother, his brother's son, and a dog and then turned the gun on himself. The shootings occurred at approximately 2:45 Monday afternoon inside the Anders Body Shop on Highway 41 in Addison. Markous (Mark) David Anders, 48, first shot his brother, Hoyt David Anders, 55, with a .22 rifle. Hoyt's son, Kerry Anders, ran from the building and was shot three times with the .22 as he fled. Mark went back inside and shot himself. Kerry sought protection at a nearby children's day care facility. A short time later he was taken across Highway 41 to the Addison Fire Department where he was picked up by a helicopter and transported to a Birmingham hospital where he is in the ICU. Hoyt and Mark Anders were pronounced dead at the scene by Winston County Coroner Larry Gilliland at 3:15 p.m.
