The Haleyville Board of Education held its regular monthly meeting Monday with all members present except Kris Burleson. Twenty-nine items, including personnel actions, were on the agenda for the meeting, Dr. Alan Miller's first as superintendent.

The Board approved Miller's three-year contract as Superintendent of Education effective July 1, 2012

The job description for Child Nutrition Program Director was approved and Callie Foster was hired as CNP Director for the upcoming school year. Foster, from the Shoals area, is a registered dietician and certified nutritionist. Her job will be to “organize and administer a food service program that provides for the nutritional needs of all students in order to promote child nutrition as a part of the total educational program.”

 The Class of 2013 will graduate from Haleyville High School on Saturday, May 25, 2013. That change was made to the 2013 calendar.

The Fees and Charges Schedule was approved. The only change from last year is to admission at baseball and softball games. Adults and students will pay $5 at the gate. Advance tickets for students are $4.

In other action, the Board approved May expenditures in the amount of $1,168,488.55; awarded copier paper purchases to Newell Paper Company of Columbus, Miss.; approved the salary schedule for the school year; agreed to use Lakeland Community Hospital for physical therapy and occupational therapy services for the school year; and approved several fund raisers.

The Board meets again Monday, August 27, 2012, 7 PM, in the board room at Haleyville High School.

Hired Enjoli Godsey, as part-time Athletic Nurse (as needed);

Hired Beverly Donaldon as 21st Century Program on-site Director;

Hired Julie Brroks, Lea Satcher, Steve Spiller, Julie Wilcoxson, Senn Williams and Robin Williams as teachers and Christi Bice and Debbie Hallman as substitute teachers for the 21st Century Program;

Hired Josh Adamson, Kaci Bailey, Paige Barton, Jessica Barton, Winston Barton, Sarah Brock, Emily Cornelius, James (Andy) Edmond, Emily Farris, Maddie Hall, Lane Hamby, Cole Hill, Ivon Marchan, Brandon Santa Maria, Paris Nelson, Keisha Nutter, Ali O'Rear, Elizabeth Robtero, Leah Tyson and Ben Wakefield as student aides for the 21st Century Program;

Hired Rita Brannon as Lunchroom Manager at HES;

Hired Christy McCombs as lunchroom worker;

Approved the resignation of Miranda Little as World History Teacher at HMS, effective July 17; and,

Hired Melody Sides as secondary social science teacher at HMS.
