The Second Annual Memorial Birthday Walk, honoring SrA Mark Forester, will occur on May 19,2012. This is the same day as the 5k/10k Price of Freedom Race. The walk begins at 6 AM at Haleyville High School This year, the walk increases to 31 miles, in memory of what would have been Forester's 31st birthday May 15.

The entry fee is $20 and supports The Mark Forester Foundation. Organizers anticipate the walk will take 10 to 12 hours. There will be staging areas every five to seven miles with water and few snacks.

The walk will include a stop at Forester's grave and a pass by the flag pole in front of his parent's house. The flag atop the pole is the flag that Air Force LTC Frank Latt had in the cockpit with him while providing air support to Forester and his team on September 29, 2010, when Forester was killed in action.
