Too Cold To Run!

An ordinary traffic stop for Haleyville Police Sergeant Jason Williams became a pursuit Thursday evening -- first by car, then by foot -- in sub-freezing temperatures. Vernon Hayes, age unknown, Fayette, was stopped for having an expired tag.

Hayes then proceeded to attempt to elude police by fleeing in his car. His vehicle left the road on 11th Avenue (near Kelly Hill) and came to a stop in Ollie Young's backyard.

From there he left the vehicle and fled on foot. Police caught up with him on 8th Avenue next to the old Hardee's building.
