Jasper Correctional Officer Arrested

Russell Damon Boyd was arrested late Monday, April 23, 2018, after an investigation revealed probable cause to believe he had inappropriate sexual contact with multiple female inmates incarcerated at the Jasper City Jail.

Boyd, 51, served as a Correctional Officer for the City of Jasper until December 2017, when he began a field training program as part of a transition from Correctional Officer to a Police Officer for the City of Jasper.  In January 2018, officials with the City of Jasper Police Department contacted the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and requested that an investigation into allegations that Boyd inappropriately touched or sexually assaulted a female inmate incarcerated at the Jasper City Jail.  SBI Special Agents presented the findings of the investigation to the Walker County District Attorney’s Office for review and warrants for Boyd were obtained.  Boyd was incarcerated at the Walker County Detention Facility on Monday, April 23, 2018, where he received a $20,000 bond.  No other information is available at this time.
