Haleyville City Council

The Haleyville City Council met Monday, July 2 and approved the Cassady Company to provide engineering services for preparation to apply for a CDBG grant for sewer work on 6th, 7th, 8th and parts of 9th Avenues.

Mayor Ken Sunseri reported the concession stand income at the Haleyville Sorts Complex so far this year was over $60,000 and after all expenses, the finances were well into the black.

Sunseri stated the  9-1-1 red phone would be going to Washington, D.C. Not to the Smithsonian, but to the National Law Enforcement Museum, which will open this fall. The Smithsonian demanded complete ownership and control and the better offer came from the NLEM which is willing to let Haleyville “borrow” it back for festivals or other events.

The Council learned the Haleyville Court system, through the Municipal Intercept Program, had netted $7,768. 22.  Mayor Sunseri stated he had hired Savannah Taylor for the Sports Complex Concession.

The next meeting of the Haleyville City Council will be Monday, July 16, at 5:30 p.m.
