Haleyville City Council

The Haleyville City Council met Tuesday with Blue Russell absent. Mayor Sunseri stated that Russell had surgery on Tuesday, and was reportedly doing fine.

The Council approved a tax abatement for American Manufacturing Supply for all state and local non-educational taxes for 10 years on a project investment of $2,325,040.00.

The council approved the purchase of a wheelchair swing to be included with the playground equipment for the new sports complex to be funded outside of any grant money in the amount of $2,134.50.

Two police car cameras were approved to be purchased for a total of 8,050.

Approval was made to purchase additional crowd barricades for the Chamber of Commerce to use for the 9-1-1 festival in June for $1900, The chamber is also purchasing additional barriers, which can be used by the city for other events or needs.

After some discussion about the liability involved, the city made no decision on granting bow hunting rights on city property adjacent to the National Guard Armory Training Facility. The request had been made by full-time Guardsman, Captain Lee Braswell.

The next scheduled council meeting will be Monday, September 18, 5:30 at the Haleyville City Hall.
