Drug Bust in Haleyville

Based on a tip there may be drug activity at a house in South Haleyville, Investigators fromf the Winston County Sheriff’s office went to 804 5th Avenue to investigate Tuesday afternoon. Investigator Josh Silas and Investigator Brad Curtis made contact with Paul Garrard at his back door. Silas reported asked Garrard about the smell of marijuana coming from the house. Garrard replied he had smoked some earlier in the morning. When asked where it was located the two officers were taken inside the living room. There they found four clear plastic baggies containing approximately 22 grams of what was believed to be marijuana and one baggie containing a crystal substance believed to be approximately one-half gram of methamphetamine and numerous drug paraphernalia.

Garrard was arrested and taken to the Winston County jail charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana 1st, felony drug paraphernalia and illegal possession of prescription drugs.

Investigators Silas and Curtis were aided in the investigation by three Haleyville police officers.
