According to Steve Foshee, who heads the Tombigbee Co-Op, at a recent meeting of the Haleyville Rotary Club, work started in May with the installation fiber optics for the new high-speed internet service. Even though Tombigbee does not provide power to the Haleyville area, it has a working agreement with Alabama Power to use their poles to run the fiber cable. Commercial service will be available up to 1GB. You can find more information on the Freedom Fiber Facebook page.
