• New Craft Fire Station

    Jason Dooley, Sonny Kois, and David Fowler are three of the future firemen who helped build their new fire station next to the Craft Community Center on Thorn Hill Road off Highway 129 in Marion County. Concrete for the entrance and drive is scheduled for this week. The facility is being built with volunteer work and funded by money from Marion County and several fund raisers. The fire station will serve not only Thorn Hill road, but areas off Highway 129.The date for the ribbon cutting has not been set but should be soon.

  • Fire Destroys Hay Barn

    The Haleyville Fire Department responded to a hay barn fire Sunday morning on Marion County Highway 85. The barn, which belonged to John Arnold was fully involved when firemen arrived. Bear Creek, Pebble and Delmar firemen were called to assist. Hay fires are extremely difficult to extinguish. A back track hoe was brought to the scene by Eagle Excavation to assist the firemen by breaking up the hay. The cause of the fire is unknown.
