• Haleyville City Council

    The Haleyville City Council met Monday and approved a request for quotes to purchase batting cage kits for 2 double softball cages at the new sports complex. These four batting cages will cost approximately $14,900. Advertising for paving of the parking lot, walking trail and entrance roads at the sports complex was also approved. Mayor Sunseri stated the opening date for the complex is April 1.

    The Council approved the Cassady Company, Inc to be the engineering consultant to provide professional engineering services for facilities development at the Haleyville Sports Complex.

    Jordan Egress, a seasonal employee of the Haleyville Park and Recreation Department was changed to regular part-time at $9.50 per hour. The City will be advertising for one full-time and two seasonal employees at the sports complex at a 10.50/hr and after a 90-day probation and a positive evaluation to $11/hr. Season employees pay scale is $9.50/hr.

    Because of a conflict with Judge Jonathan Lowe, a special city court will be held on February 16 with Judge Betsy Harrison.

    The February 20 Council meeting has been rescheduled for Thursday, February 23.

  • HHS Lady Lions Advance to Area Finals

    64The Haleyville Lady Lions defeated the Hamilton Aggies Monday night 57-47 in area tournament play in Winfield. The win advances the Lions to the area championship game Thursday at 6:30 p.m.  against Winfield at Winfield. The Haleyville Lions boys will play Winfield tonight in Winfield in the area semi-finals. Game time is 7:30 p.m. Listen to the play by play on Paradise 92.7 with David Albright and Craig Wakefield starting at 7:20 p.m.
