• House Fire

    SIDE ROOF

Thursday morning Haleyville and several surrounding fire departments fought a four-alarm fire at a house on 13th Avenue in Haleyville for over an hour before subduing the flames. The house belonged to Simon and Christy Ann Foster. With Simon and Christy at their respective jobs and their two teenage children in school, no one was home mid-morning when smoke was first seen coming from the house. However. two dogs trapped in the house were lost but a pet snake survived. The snake was in a glass enclosure. The house suffered extensive fire, smoke and water damage and possibly considered a total loss. The house was formerly owned by Mrs. Rachel Gay and was located just across the street from the baseball field which was once the Ben Smith football field.
