The Haleyville Lions varsity football team defeated Cordova Friday night, 35-13 in first home game of the season. Cordova had been ranked number one in the region.

The Lion of the Week is Scott McAlpine as picked by the Paradise 92.7 sportscasters Butch Foster and Craig Wakefield. Both had a really had time picking just one player as the Lion of the Week because the entire team played so well.

So far this season, the Lions have defeated Deshler, Winston County, Hamilton in a shut out 42-0, and now Cordova. 35-13.

This Friday night, the Lions travel to Winfield. Game time is 7 p.m. as are all the games this season. If you cannot attend the game, listen to the play-by-play on Paradise 92.7.
